CLASS DESCRIPTION:
The class will lead from experiential anatomy into movement inspired by a memory, a place or an
experience. We will travel from internal movement work into a dance.
Internalizing details of our anatomical structure through imagery into our ( physical ? ) sensation
and movement, we can enter the body and be led into a space where new uncensored movement is
full of information and revelations. It is then that the dance of a memory or the place that come
to mind can simply come forth and surprise us.
BIOGRAPHY:
mainly solo, often collaborating with musicians, and occasionally with other dancers.
Having had a traditional classical and modern dance training from a young age, I have spent many
years since exploring somatic movement approaches and improvisation both as a means of many
others I studied with Steve Paxton, Eva Karzack, Simone Forti, Pauline de Groot, Emilie Conrad
and Christina Svane.
Graduated "The School for New Dance Development" in Amsterdam and received Mmus degree
from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem, where I have been also a stuff
member for the past 13 years, teaching mainly movement and improvisation. Apart of teaching at
movement classes for over 3 years in Israel's women's prison.
Currently I am completing also MA studies and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The research
is focusing on Dance representations in the Ancient Near East. The Art of Ancient Egypt,
Mesopotamia and the Levant are showing many dancing figures. This field has had very little
attention in the research and is a fertile ground for new observations and analysis, which I have
been working on the past 5 years.
