DON HANLON JOHNSON:  I am the founder of the first graduate studies program in Somatics and the first
program whose graduates are publically authorized to use touch in the practice of psychotherapy. This program
is entering its 31st year at The California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where I continue as a
professor.  I have written several books and articles, and edited several collections whose central focus is the
role of the directly experienced body in the reshaping of self, community, and the world. I am also the director of
the Somatic wing of the Center for Theory and Research at Esalen Institute.

MARK WALDMAN Mark Waldman is the world’s leading expert on spirituality, communication, stress-reduction and
the brain. He is on the faculty at Loyola Marymount University’s College of Business, and he was a founding member and
Associate Fellow at the Center for Spirituality and the Mind at the University of Pennsylvania.  His research has been published in

BETH PETTENGILL RILEY, M.A. Dance Education, Stanford University has invigorated the world of movement education
through her passionate blending of Continuum, Yoga and Dance for over 3 decades. She has taught all levels of Dance, Movement,
Yoga and Fitness at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, CA.,Mt Madonna Center, UC Santa Cruz, Stanford, El Camino Hospital and Santa
Cruz Medical Clinic.  She was voted the “Best Yoga Teacher of Santa Cruz” in 2001 and has developed training programs
incorporating movement into curricula from pre-school through college.  She is currently developing movement based Health and
Wellness curriculum for teens at Kirby School in Santa Cruz, CA. Beth is an authorized Continuum Movement™  and Jungle Gym
teacher, leading groups and working with individuals seeking greater freedom of movement.

CHERIONNA MENZAM-SILLSM, PhD began teaching Embryology through Movement in 1997 as part of her
doctorate in Pre- & Perinatal Psychology. An authorized Continuum Movement™ teacher, Cherionna also practices
& teaches practitioner trainings in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy across North America and Europe, often with
her husband, Franklyn Sills. Biodynamics includes orientating to embryological forces to support health and well-
being throughout life. Cherionna draws on 35 years experience as therapist (including Occupational Therapy,
Massage, Prenatal and Birth, Somatic and Dance/Movement Psychotherapy). She is committed in her work & life to
embodied presence. She has recently re-located to England, where she has a private practice.

Restoring Connection in the Aftermath of War, Adversity and Natural Disasters
AMBER GRAY (MPH, MA, BC-DMT NCC, LPCC) is an authorized Continuum Movement™ Teacher and award winning dance
movement therapist.  Amber has worked for many years with people whom have survived violation, human rights abuses, and
terror. Amber uses Continuum as a primary restorative practice in her work, and for resilience after injury, illness and chronic
stress. Her teaching often combines Continuum with dance movement therapy, somatic psychology, current trauma and
neuropsychological research, movement therapy, life impressions bodywork, ritual, and creative arts.  She provides training and
consultation nationally and internationally on restorative treatment for survivors of war, political violence, torture, and natural
disasters. She has over thirty years experience in human service and working with displaced people, refugees, and survivors of
human rights abuses, and over 16 years experience working with survivors of interpersonal and social trauma.

coaching methods Teri created Embodied life Method, helping thousands of people break the barrier of self-
limitation into optimal fitness, health and performance. She is a Dancer, Author, Speaker, an authorized Continuum
Movement Teacher™ and a Body-Mind Centering® Practitioner.  Teri founded the Somatic Movement Arts

DONNALEA VAN VLEET GOELZ, PhD(c), RSMT, RSME, is the founder and owner of Cobalt Moon Center for integrative  
health. A licensed Continuum teacher, and a T’ai Chi Instructor. She is a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing  
where she served as senior faculty, in the US and Europe. Other certifications include Object Relational Psychotherapy from
Center for Intentional Living and Brennan Integration Practitioner, a graduate degree at BBSH that incorporates psychology and the
human energy field.  Currently she is pursuing her PhD in Somatic Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
DON VAN VLEET Donald Van Vleet is an innovator in the field of human consciousness and manual manipulation.  Forging
new pathways in our understanding of human anatomy and physiology, he is redefining the way we think about illness, and
developing strategies to bring us to an evolutionary wellness. Donald is an Advanced Rolfer and teacher in the continuing
education department of the Rolf Institute.  He is a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, and has studied visceral
osteopathic manipulation with Jean-Pierre Barral, as well as Chinese organ massage with Taoist Master Mantak Chia.

DON ST JOHN, Ph.D., is a Somatic-Relational Teacher, Psychotherapist, Coach, Public Speaker and
Author. He is an Authorized Continuum Movement™ Teacher and Hellerwork Structural Integration Practitioner
and Trainer. For the past 40+ years he has been on the cutting edge of the Somatic-Relational field and is a

PRISCILLA AUCHINCLOSS earned her Ph.D. in experimental particle physics at Columbia University and
worked in academia for over 20 years before diving full-time into investigating, teaching, and writing about
movement.   Through Continuum Movement™ she realized that the moving body is a source of knowledge as
important as anything taught in academic classrooms.  Physikos Movement is the business she created in
Rochester, NY, to explore body intelligence and give people access to this untapped resource inside them.  Most
recently, much of her work is dedicated to the empowerment of somatic entrepreneurs, so they can go on changing
the world and enjoy living beautifully in it.
Monday, January 21, 2pm  A 50 year perspective on the field of somatic therapy, Continuum and the body
GAEL ROSEWOOD began her life long inquiry in the field of somatics at the age of 19 when she went to work at
Esalen Inst. for the summer in 1968. There she met Ida Rolf, founder of Rolfing (Structural Integration). The next year
she was trained as a Rolfer. The year after that she began 8 years if trainings with Judith Aston, of Aston Patterning. In
1978 Gael participated on the Rolf Inst. faculty as both a movement and Rolfing instructor. In the early 80's Gael met
Emilie Conrad.  Other modalities of study have been; Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing,visceral manipulation,
cranial/sacral, nerve sheath release, and working with scar tissue.
Tuesday, January 22, 10am  The Art and Science of Breathing
ROBERT LITMAN Robert Litman is a movement professional and creator of The Breathable Body.  He is an
Authorized Continuum Movement™ teacher incorporating an experiential approach to learning anatomy and biology.
Robert has been working in the field of health since 1988 teaching internationally and maintaining a private practice in
movement & breath education in Tucson, Arizona. He teaches The Buteyko Institute Method of Breathing Retraining
helping people with breathing disorders such as asthma, anxiety, allergies, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue to control
their symptoms and reduce their medications. Robert has an advanced certification in the Duggan-French Approach
to Somatic Pattern Recognition, which has provided him with hands on skills to help guide clients’ movement and
breath education awareness processes.

Elisa Cotroneo is a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist. In practice for over 35 years, Elisa has
trained with many of the pioneers in the field of Movement Education and Therapy and indigenous elders from North
America, India and Tibet.  She serves as the President of the Board of Director’s of the International Somatic
Movement Education and Therapy Association. She has worked extensively with individuals, groups, school districts,
special education programs, and arts organizations. As a professional development consultant, Elisa has created
workshops, retreats and online courses focusing on creativity, imagination and experiential embodied education.

ROBIN BECKER Artistic Director, choreographer, dancer and Authorized Continuum Movement™ Teacher Robin
Becker has had a distinguished professional dance career.  She has served on the faculties of American Ballet
Theatre, Alvin Ailey, and numerous other dance institutions, and is currently on faculty at Hofstra University.  She
founded Robin Becker Dance in 1987.  Robin’s work is informed by her extensive training in numerous forms of
dance, as well as her experience and training in bodywork, meditation practice, and by Continuum, an innovative
field of movement education based on the study of the body as a fluid system.  She presents workshops nationally
and internationally.  
Wednesday, January 23, 2pm  Feeling Moving:  The biology of emotion in the movement of health
Mary Abrams MA, RSME brings passion, skill, and an inquisitive spirit to her teaching; offering detailed
attention to breath, sensation, and emotion for the health of your entire being.  She is founder of Moving Body
Resources (1999) in New York City and leads the Masters Degree Dance & Somatic Well-being course from
the University of Central Lancashire (UK) in the USA. She is an Authorized Continuum Movement™ Teacher
and has a MA in Consciousness Studies focusing on embodied movement practice and theory.
