BODY-ART FLOW:
Embody your inner Animal & Oceanic Wisdom
2 Part Intensive:  Thurs, Oct 8, 9-11:30am and 12-2:30pm
Part One
In the studio: Finding and dancing your Animal Ally
In this traditional Halprin workshop, you will be lead on a somatic exploration of discovering your animal ally
and tapping into animal ally wisdom to inform other areas of your life. The class will be cradled in Anna
Halprin’s dance as a healing art, sensory awareness, somatic movement ritual, and guided visualization
processes. On this creative, kinesthetic journey, we will bring in breath, sound, rhythm and body
awareness resources to allow your animal ally to organically emerge from an inner, primal experience. We
will work with art-making, poetic dialogue/writing, creative reenactments, partner and group collaborations,
using body, image and metaphor to create meaning.

Part Two
The Ocean and Embodied Movement
The second part of the Halprin workshop will include a trek to the ocean, where we will make physical and
sensorial contact with the natural landscape of the outer world. Using the same fluid movement inspiring
resources of somatic awareness, breath and sound, we will interact with nature as it relates to the inner,
aquatic environment of our own bodies. We will explore the beauty and pain of “nature as healer,” as per
Anna Halprin—going beyond language and moving into intuitive resonance with our kinesthetic experience
and the natural world.
