LABAN ANALYSIS & BARTENIEFF FUNDAMENTALS: Demystifying Creative Process Through Somatic In-Roads 2 Part Intensive: Fri & Sat, Oct 9 & 10, 4:30-7 pm
|
This workshop will use principles from Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis (LMA) to shed light onto
the huge, seemingly unknowable process that IS the creative impulse. My work is interested in
exploring, through image, movement and words, the nature of our own creativity. The format is
designed to find, through embodied movement and deep listening, ones’ own feeling life. The
participants will work within the format of witnessing which enhances learning as it supports
creative practice. The dialectical relationship between ourselves and our world will be further
examined as we look at our decision-making process within improvisational structures. This work will
become more transparent as we apply LMA vocabularies to better understand our personal
uniqueness through our individual decision-making style. To use what is deeply known and apply it into
the unknown is, for me, the germination of both aspects of performance: the dancer and the dance.
