BODY-MIND CONTINUUM
Conscious Embodiment™: Fluid InterConnection, from Self Discovery to Outer Expression
1 Part Class:  Wed, Sept 29, 4-7:30pm
&
In BODY-MIND CONTINUUM we'll translate our deep kinesthetic discovery into outer expression.
We'll transition from private somatic dives to inter-relating with the world.   Bringing ourselves more
fully to every situation with the support of the 'field', benefits our artmaking and the embodied
performance of everyday life.

Beginning with floor-work and evolving to spatial improvisation, we'll embrace our curiosity for self
discovery in creative resonance with our environment.  Somatic principles of Continuum and Body-Mind
Centering will nurture our capacity for fluid articulation and self awareness.  This bio-field approach
includes our inner world, other living beings, spatial awareness and the 'field'.  Letting sensation inform
movement choices, experiential anatomy and sounding will enliven our body systems for a free flow of
energy.  Breath, directed touch and metaphoric imagery help guide our ability to sense, observe, and
explore the complexity of omni-directional space and our bio-structure.
.
We'll increase self awareness while moving alone, in duos and groups.  Witnessing one another using
principles of Authentic Movement will enhance our capacity to inter-relate with our surroundings.
We'll access the inner dynamic form and landscape of our body, as consciously experienced support for
movement and inter-connection, to deepen our performance skills as well as enhance our ability to be
vibrantly present in our daily lives and the web of life.

Continuum is a practice that uses sound-breath, subtle movements and sensation to open the body's
tissues transformation for greater fluid resonance.  Here, we can thrive in connection with our inner
and outer environments, and the ability to adapt to circumstance ongoingly with the "unfolding
unexpected" (Emilie Conrad, Continuum founder and visionary).
Contact Improvisation is a practice
founded by Steve Paxton that uses the laws of physics to follow the 'point of touch' with partners.
Body-Mind Centering (BMC) is an integrative approach to transformation through movement re-
education and hands-on repatterning. Developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, it is an experiential study
based on the embodiment and application of anatomical, physiological, psychophysical and developmental
principles, utilizing movement, touch, voice and mind. This study leads to an understanding of how the
mind is expressed through the body and the body through the mind.
