"The artist is a kind of warrior. It takes courage to have people enter your secret chamber
and see what is going on there. The creative spirit really needs to be fostered and tended to.

Our aim in this Somatic Performance Lab intensive is to:
1.   Follow body intelligence with the knowledge that we are a living process. It is an invitation to a deep inquiry of our authentic
awareness bridging the link between the possible and potential bodies. As we develop the capacity to listen and respond to cues and
signals of internal organic tissue shifts, sensation informs our choices and the choreography of the fluid system moves us in ways that
our conventional brain could not think of.
Expand your presence IQ.  How does body-mind communication determine your identity and sensory capacity? Learn to track
and respond to a broad band of information, streaming from both your inner and outer universe.  By training the physicality of
mindfulness with good somatic based skills, we examine how perceived experiences, mutual curiosity, attentiveness to our feelings
and sharing through movement, touch, discussion, and witnessing can enhance creative process and performance.  Allow the cosmic
field to be the playground for your discovery and dissolve limiting and culturally conditioned ideas of self to expand towards ever
growing creative abilities.
Delve into experiential anatomy and Continuum Movement as the primary somatic portal through which we organize our
performance score building. Notions of somatic practice Explore movement impulses, sound resonance, fluid wave motion and Emilie
Conrad's Creative Edges method where we claim our birthright in billions of years of a planetary process informing our movement and
gestural character embodiment is species-inclusive.

Our in-class collaborative improvisational score building begins each day with a warmup include slowing down and shifting our
awareness internally so that we can deeply listen to embodied awareness. We’ll blend this empathic body-mind development into our
performance score building, so we can stand/move in embodied power while being witnessed, with a global awareness of your internal
world and external surroundings.
One pre-festival tele-conference will begin the process of connecting and finding out about each person's journey thus far and what they are
hoping to express in performance.  This group call is preparation for our time together in the studio during the festival.

We encourage Lab participants to attend other classes during the festival, as the other workshops have been structured to foster a deep
somatic unfolding for you, which will support the Performance Lab process.  The morning classes are particularly important for your warmup,
so you'll be 'somatically primed' with consciously embodied impulses to start the performance-making journey during our Lab hours.  Your
somatic warmup brings harmony to our starting point each day so we can use our Performance Lab class time most efficiently.

The Lab will culminate on Sunday, September 4 with an early afternoon group tech rehearsal and a 4pm performance.
