Performance Lab
kinesthetic experience? The SOMA Fest Collaborative Performance Lab is an opportunity to develop
performance arena. The performance lab facilitators will serve to help integrate somatic practices within
improvisation and compositional performance work.
Ideal for individuals willing to explore in a communal environment to create a collaborative group score.
Bring seeds of ideas, short pieces or just join us and absorb... We'll develop ideas and learn from each
other, culminating in an afternoon of somatic performance. Performance Lab participant's ideas, short
pieces and a group score will fill the first half of Sunday's Show, Oct 3.
The Lab is a 5 day workshop – 3 hours per day, plus designated rehearsal time and the performance.
Each class will begin with a somatic movement warm-up preparation and improvisation score warmup.
Participants will then share ideas, some will share prepared work and get feedback. Led by the facilitators,
the group will also collaborate on developing a movement-road-map, the score for a final matinee
performance on Sunday, October 3. There may be extra rehearsals scheduled before the performance.
